ABOUT THE BIFB
The Ballarat International Foto Biennale is a not-for-profit incorporated association, run primarily by a group of volunteers, with a collective enthusiasm and vision about the future direction of Australian photography and photographers, and the place they take on the world stage.
OUR VISION
We aim to educate, inspire, provoke and question by presenting photography from the world to Australia and from Australia to the world.
OUR MISSION
Our goal is to promote photography in all its forms both through the staging of a biennial festival in Ballarat along with a range of other initiatives which profile photography to the broadest possible audience.
My latest project, ” Enchanted Encounters” is now exhibiting at Ansonia on Lydiard in Ballarat from the 22nd of August – 20th Sept 2015.
Throughout my many years of travelling abroad, I have noticed that one strong reoccurring theme to my body of work is my fascination with photographing people. Not so unusual there, however, my interests lie not so much in the classic style portrait shot where the identity and facial expressions dominant, but more as the human presence being merely a part of the overall story within the composition. I am naturally drawn towards presenting my photographs in an uncluttered and minimalist style, perhaps subconsciously to draw attention to our own often chaotic and busy lifestyles.
